PCO certified Birchwood Farms is near the New Jersey border. The cows are raised on a diet purley of grass and hay. They are Angus cattle.

They have recently expanded their farm to include chickens, pigs, sheep, beef cows and dairy cows. Cherry grove is a family farm and they invite visitors to come the their farm and see their special methods in action- they also offer free eggs to all their visitors. Strawberry Farms in New Jersey
Nothing tastes as sweet as fresh berries right from the vine, and New Jersey is lucky to have a number of farms that feature the red heart-shaped fruits growing in local fields during late May and early June.
In Morris County find Alstede Farms, a family owned and operated enterprise located at 84 Route 513, Chester. During pick-your-own strawberry season, the plump fruit is easily spotted since the best rows are marked with flags. Start at their store, and borrow a wagon to cart your berries from the field, or perhaps forgo the picking part to select strawberries ready for purchase from their market stand. The Alstede Farms Strawberry Harvest Festival Days take place on the second and third weekends of June, and includes fresh strawberry pies, and their yummy homemade strawberry ice-cream. Travel next to Mercer County and stop at Terhune Orchards, one of Central New Jersey’s most popular strawberry farms at 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton. Owners Pam and Gary Mount have dedicated two acres of their 200-acre farm to cultivating two strawberry varieties. The Farm Store features delicious homemade strawberry bakery items; events include the Read and Pick program where children listen to a farm story before parents escort them to the orchard for strawberry picking. Burlington County is home to Johnson’s Corner Farm, established at 133 Church Road, Medford, since 1953. Long a family affair, the farm is manned by 13 members of the Bill and Bette Johnson clan. With strawberries being the first harvest of the year, the farm gears a number of activities around the prized fruit including hayrides to the picking fields, and a lively Strawberry Festival during the last weekend of May and the second weekend of June; guests can enjoy delectable treats including the Johnson’s award winning pies and cobblers while listening to live music. Cherry Grove Farm is a certified organic 400-acre diversified farm in central New Jersey. Development pressure here has made farming almost obsolete. We are working hard to make sure that this farm remains a refuge dedicated to producing healthy food for our local community. 200 acres of the farm are replanted grassland where our grassfed cattle and lambs live and graze in an open, carefree environment. New Jersey Museum of Agriculture, New Brunswick, NJ
The New Jersey Museum of Agriculture’s mission is to tell the story of the Garden State’s agriculture - past, present, and future. Centrally located off U.S. 1 and College Farm Road in North Brunswick, the Museum contains permanent and changing exhibits about the evolution of agriculture in New Jersey. The 30,000 square foot facility is active throughout the year with programming that showcases the people, products, and ingenuity that established, and will continue to position, New Jersey as a leader in agriculture. Established as an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization in 1984, the New Jersey Museum of Agriculture opened to the public in 1990.
Maple Sugaring 2009 Date: February 28 and March 7
Sugaring time arrives in late winter at Howell Farm and the public joins in the fun of making and tasting homemade maple syrup (and pancakes!). Activities offered continuously on these dates from 10:00am until 4:00pm include syrup making, flour milling, butter making and pancake sampling. Sap gathering takes place at 10:30am and at 3:00pm. Tree tapping demonstrations are held at 12:00 noon and 2:00pm. The trees are tapped begining in early February. For information on that program click here. School groups and the farm staff collect and boil down sap for several weeks.
